Centreville is located across the Cahaba River from Brent. The two towns share a common border.
The Bibb County Courthouse and square are at the center of this photo. The “Rockhouse”, as it was known, is visible behind the courthouse. Emergency aid offices were set up there following the storm. Surrounding the square are churches, a bank, and other varied businesses, including the Centreville Press.
Although a number of houses sustained damage along Highway 25 within its city limit, Centreville escaped Brent’s fate of near total destruction by only a few hundred yards. The path of the tornado is visible in the top left corner of this photo, along Highway 25.
